The Trinity Lutheran Young Adults Group, known as YAG, is Trinity's adult youth based organization. The group is for both single and married young adults over the age of 18. The four objects of YAG are for worship, education, fellowship, service, and recreation.
In the fall of 1924, the younger members of Trinity under the leadership of Reverend A.C. Wunderlich organized the Young Peoples Society (Y.P.S.). The Y.P.S. grew to a membership of thirty-five; their goal was to assist the congregation in all its endeavors. The dues were ten cents per month During its early years the Y.P.S. played an important part in both the religious and social lives of its congregation.
In the 1930's, the Y.P.S. became inactive for a few years due to absence of youth in the congregation. However, in 1938 they reorganized under the leadership of Reverend W. Maring. Officers were: President, Charles Kleinsorge; Vice-President, Alma Kleinsorge; Secretary, Hilda Kleinsorge; Treasurer, Wm. Cohrs; and Janitor, C. H. Wortman. The Y.P.S.'s main project between 1925 to 1940 was presenting plays for the community; admission was $.15. The funds raised from the community plays were estimated to be over $500.00. Most of the money was donated back to the congregation. The organization purchased a set of new hanging gas-air lamps to replace the old kerosene lamps in the church, also a church clock, and gave $250 toward a new organ in 1929. Additional donations included purchasing paint for the parsonage and purchasing a new stove for the church.
In the 1960s, 70s, and 80s the organization continued its active leadership role in the church. Yet, the group still had time for bowling and other recreational activities.
Through the decades since it's formation in the 1920's the Young Peoples Society has continued to make a difference in the lives of Trinity's congregation and the lives of our surrounding communities. After a brief period of inactivity the Young People Society was reorganized under the new name of the Young Adults Organization, referred to as the Young Adults Group (YAG).
In 2007, YAG took over leadership of the annual Ice Cream Social as the organizations main fundraiser. The money earned from this event in turn is used through donations to the church.
