"...these women...have labored side by side with me in the gospel...together with the rest of my fellow workers..."
Philippians 4:3
Ladies Aid is one of the oldest organization at Trinity Lutheran. Today, it continues to be an imperative organization in spreading God's word through fellowship and service.
Ladies Aid was organized July 15, 1928, at the church parsonage with 7 charter members: Mrs. William Blaue, President; Mrs. Ed. F. Kleinsorge, Vice-President; Mrs. A.C. Wunderlich, Secretary-Treasurer. Other members were: Mrs. Ferdinand Blaue, Mrs. Carl Gastler, Mrs. Theodore Kleinsorge, and Mrs. Joe Gieseker. They had two social meetings a month and four business meetings a year. Some of their activities were making quilts, canning food, and sewing for orphans. The organization had grown to thirty members, when the Trinity church building was struck by lightning and burned to the ground on April 13, 1945. At this time, the congregation split leaving only four members in Trinity Ladies Aid.
The Ladies Aid was reorganized March 23, 1947, with nine members present. The following officers were elected: Mrs. Ed Kleinsorge, President; Mrs. Fred Nagel, Vice-President; and Mrs. Albert Kleinsorge, Secretary-Treasurer. The meeting was set to be the first Wednesday of every month, which has continued to the present day. Dues were $1.00 a year. Each member was to give two dozen eggs at Easter for the orphanage. Other activities were selling jello, greeting cards, and picking out hickory nuts to be sold.
In 1950, it was decided to give all newly married couples of the congregation a religious picture. This tradition is still carried on today.
In 1955, the members joined the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Twice a year, mite boxes were collected and distributed to the district and international LWML for overseas projects.
The first Ice Cream Social was planned in 1956. Today the Ice Cream Social, now sponsored by the Young Adults, continues to attract large groups of people from the surrounding communities.
The Ladies Aid continues to be a vital part of Trinity Lutheran Church. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month to discuss business, the Bible, and enjoy refreshments. They continue valuable services to the congregation, community, and world. If you are interested in learning more about Ladies Aid don't hesitate to contact us using the form on the Contact Us page.
